1955 and 1956
DETROIT LIONS
on DVD in COLOR!
In 1956 coach Buddy Parker’s club bounced back from a rough year in 1955, reversing the 3-9 record of the season before, and only the Western Champion Bears kept the Lions from another NFL title game. With Joe Schmidt coming into his own as a linebacker, and Bobby Layne’s shoulder fully healed, the Lions reeled off six straight wins to start the season! In these two beautiful COLOR films, you’ll see all the Lions of those great Detroit clubs of the 1950’s: Harry Gilmer, Dorne Dibble, Dave Middleton, Bob Hoernschemeyer, Sonny Gandee, Doak Walker, Lew Carpenter, Jug Girard, Jim Martin, Carl Karilivacz, Harley Sewell, Jack Christianson, Darris McCord, Bill Stits, Leon Hart, Jim David, Jim Doran, Don McIlhenny, Gene Gedman, Yale Lary, Hopalong Cassady, Jerry Reichow, Dick Woit, Lou Creekmur, Jim Salsbury, Ray Krouse and many others! Playing for other clubs against the Lions, you’ll see Y.A. Tittle, Dick Moegle, Norm Van Brocklin, Tom Fears, “Crazy Legs” Hirsch, Fran Rogel, Jim Finks, Elbie Nickel, Lynn Chandnois, Ed Brown, Rick Casares, George Blanda, Harlan Hill, Fred Cone, Tobin Rote, Howie Ferguson, Billy Howton, Frank Gifford, Tom Landry and more, all in beautiful COLOR!
