MILWAUKEE BRAVES

All on one DVD!

The 1960, 1961 and 1962 Milwaukee Braves highlights are now all on one DVD from Rare Sportsfilms, Inc! “The Best Of Baseball”, “Big Moments With The Braves” and “Around The League With The Braves” are all narrated by the familiar voice of the Braves Earl Gillespie, and each film is in COLOR! Shown are all those well-remembered players from the Glory Days of the Braves in Milwaukee, as well as some of the newcomers on the club in the early 1960’s. Warren Spahn, Lew Burdette, Bob Buhl, Carl Willey, Don McMahon, Del Crandall, Joe Adcock, Red Schoendienst, Johnny Logan, Eddie Mathews, Hank Aaron, Billy Bruton and Wes Covington gradually give way to Tony Cloninger, Bob Hendley, Don Nottebart, Bob Shaw, Roy McMillan, Frank Bolling, Joe Torre, Frank Thomas, Al Spangler, Mack Jones, Lee Maye, Amado Samuel, Howie Bedell and Claude Raymond - all shown in action on this DVD! In addition, you’ll see the National League stars of the early 1960’s on other teams as they battle the Braves, many also in nice close-up shots – Bob Friend, Dick Groat, Roberto Clemente, Bill Mazeroski, Hal Smith, Don Leppert, Earl Francis, Dick Schofield, Vern Law, Vinegar Bend Mizell, Bill Virdon, Don Hoak, Dick Stuart, Bob Skinner, Rocky Nelson, Geno Cimoli, Elroy Face, Gus Bell, Vada Pinson, Frank Robinson, Joey Jay, Bob Purkey, Jim O’Toole, Gordy Coleman, Jim Brosnan, Juan Marichal, Jim Davenport, Felipe Alou, Orlando Cepeda, Jack Sanford, Willie Mays, Jose Pagan, Stan Musial, Ken Boyer, Ernie Broglio, Lindy McDaniel, George Crowe, Bill White, Julio Gotay, Julian Javier, Stan Williams, Don Drysdale, Sandy Koufax, Frank Howard, Duke Snider, the Davis boys, Maury Wills, Ed Roebuck, Norm Larker, Don Demeter, Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, George Altman, Don Cardwell, Kenny Hubbs, Richie Ashburn, Art Mahaffey, Tony Taylor, Roy Sievers, John Callison, Robin Roberts and others! In addition to highlights from memorable games, each film has some special features.

“The Best Of Baseball” gives emphasis on the Pirates’ cinderella season, Opening Day at County Stadium, Friend vs Spahn, the first annual Braves Old Timers Day and close plays and humorous incidents that happened throughout 1960.

“Big Moments With The Braves” (1961) shows a bench-clearing brawl vs the Reds at County Stadium. Jim O’Toole, caught scrambling to get back into third base is tagged hard my Ed Mathews. Even Cincinnati manager Fred Hutchinson is show shoving and pulling players apart during the melee! The biggest moment of 1961 season however, comes on the night of August 11, when Warren Spahn beats Jack Curtis and the Cubs 2-1 for his 300th M.L. victory!

As the Braves fell slightly in the standings in 1962, “Around The League With The Braves” is more of a season highlight film of the National League, with the Braves as prominent participants. Brand new for ’62 are the Houston Colt 45’s and the New York Mets and each team is given good coverage at old Colt Stadium and the Polo Grounds respectively. Manager Harry Craft, Dick Farrell, Norm Larker, Bob Lillis, J.C. Hartman and Roman Mejias of Houston and Casey Stengel, Richie Ashburn, Gil Hodges, Charley Neal, Frank Thomas, and “Marvelous” Marv Throneberry are shown along with rare color scenes of these ballparks in the early days of the Colts and Mets!
