1962 New York Giants & Green Bay Packers Season Highlights

The 1962 NFL Title Game, the 1962 New York Giants Highlights and the 1962 Green Bay Packers Highlights are all available for the first time on one 88-minute DVD! All three original films have now been restored by Rare Sportsfilms and the Championship Game is in beautiful COLOR! Also in color, the Giants highlight film, narrated by Chris Schenkel and presented by Ballantine Beer, and the B & W Packers film, narrated by Jim Leaming and presented by Miller Brewing Company, each show the outstanding games (see below) from the regular season. You'll enjoy a special introduction to the championship game by Packer quarterback Bart Starr, Packer coach Vince Lombardi and Giants halfback Frank Gifford.

Known for their rugged defense, the Giants also had plenty of offense in '62, with 35-year-old quarterback Y.A. Tittle having a sensational year and setting a new NFL record with 33 TD passes in one season, including seven in one game against the Redskins! With a strong cast of players surrounding Tittle, the Giants again became champions in the East by winning their last nine games in a row and finished three games over Bobby Layne's runner-up Pittsburgh Steelers.

Most football historians feel the 1962 Packers were coach Lombardi's greatest team. Going 13-1, their only loss was the famous Thanksgiving Day upset at Detroit. Other than that game, the Packers overwhelmed all opponents with All-Pro performers. Fullback Jim Taylor, who had neither size or speed but meanness, took the rushing title away from Jimmy Brown and led the NFL in scoring with 19 touchdowns. Bart Starr compiled the best passing record and Willie Wood led the league in interceptions. The wire service All-Pro Teams that year were loaded with Packers, as Taylor, Ron Kramer, Fuzzy Thurston, Jim Ringo, Forrest Gregg, Jerry Kramer, Willie Davis, Henry Jordan, Bill Forester, Dan Currie and Herb Adderley all won honors.

On this new DVD, Giants fans will enjoy seeing all the players from the 1962 team and Packer fans will enjoy watching players from the earlier years of the great Lombardi dynasty. Throughout, you'll see Giants Y.A. Tittle, Ralph Gugliemi, Del Shofner, Frank Gifford, Alex Webster, Joe Morrison, Phil King, Roosevelt Brown, Erich Barnes, Joe Walton, Aaron Thomas, Sam Huff, Andy Robustelli, Jim Katcavage, Rosey Grier, Jim Collier, Jack Stroud, Bill Winter, Allan Webb, Dick Pesonen, Jim Patton, Dick Lynch, Tom Scott, Dick Lasse, Darrell Dess, Don Chandler, Ray Wietecha, Greg Larson, Dick Modzelewski, Reed Bohovich, Johnny Counts, Mickey Walker, Sam Horner and Head Coach Allie Sherman. Packer players shown in action include Max McGee, Paul Hornung, Tom Moore, Boyd Dowler, Ray Nitschke, Bob Skoronski, Elijah Pitts, John Roach, Hank Gremminger, Lew Carpenter, Jesse Whittenton, Ken Iman, Bill Quinlan, Dave Hanner and others!
