BALTIMORE COLTS

The 1962 Baltimore Colts film has a slightly different format than in previous years. Titled "The Baltimore Colts - A Golden Decade", it takes a nostalgic look back at the players of the first ten years in the NFL history of the Colts starting in 1953 and continuing through 1962. Presented by National Beer and narrated by voice of the Colts Chuck Thompson, it shows the greatest players from the first ten years of the Colts in action. How many do YOU remember? Seen are Buddy Young, Fred Enke, George Taliaferro, John Huzvar, Bill Pellington, Bert Rechichar, Don Shula, Carl Taseff, Dan Edwards, Joe Campanella, Gino Marchetti, Dick Barwegen, Art Spinney, Gary Kerkorian, Zollie Toth, George Shaw, Don Joyce, Tom Keane, Jim Mutscheller, Alan Ameche (as a rookie in '55, the first time he touches the ball in an NFL game, he scores on a 79 yard TD run), L.G. Dupre, Raymond Berry, Dick Syzmanski, Alex Sandusky, Lenny Moore, Johnny Unitas, Big Daddy Lipscomb, Don Shinnick, Steve Myhra, Milt Davis, Andy Nelson, Ordell Braase, Jim Parker, Johnny Sample, Ray Brown, George Preas, Jim Welch, Bobby Boyd, Palmer Pyle, Joe Perry and more! You'll hear the end of Art Donovan's on-field retirement speech in '61.

Under new head coach Don Shula, the Colts had a better year in 1963, winning five of their last six games after a 3-5 start. The '63 film begins with the Colts exciting come-from behind 19-16 win on the last day of the season at Memorial Stadium to beat the Los Angeles Rams on a typical beat-the-clock drive by Johnny Unitas! A nice crop of rookies for '63 included, Bob Vogel, Fred Miller, Jerry Logan and Willie Richardson. The Colts also added Jerry Hill, Jim Maples, Butch Wilson, J.W. Lockett, quarterback Gary Cuozzo and big tight end John Mackey. Familiar names are also back: Jimmy Orr, Jerry Hill, Tom Matte, Alex Hawkins, Dick Bielski, Jim Colvin, Lenny Moore, Lenny Lyles, Ordell Braase, Wendell Harris, Fred Miller, Jackie Burkett, and of course Johnny Unitas.
