1961 and 1962
LOS ANGELES RAMS
For a sixth place team, the 1961 Rams had a lot of offensive talent, with top NFL runners in Jon Arnett,
Ollie Matson and Dick Bass. Jim Phillips and Carroll Dale were excellent receivers, but neither QB Zeke Bratkowski or young Frank Ryan
were successful in moving the team down the field. Then, in the worst season in the history of the club, the 1962 Rams picked up two
outstanding rookies in the draft which would contribute to the team for years to come - Merlin Olsen and Roman Gabriel.
In these two historic team highlight films, you'll see all the Rams of the 1961 and 1962 teams - Charley Cowan,
Clendon Thomas, Bill Jobko, Pervis Atkins, Jack Pardee, Les Richter, Danny Villanueva, Bruce Tarbox, John Lovetere, Alvin Hall, Lamar Lundy, Deacon Jones, Urban Henry, Lindon Crow, George Strugar, Joe Marconi, Frank Varrichione, Ed Meador, Jim Boeke, Charley Britt, John Baker, Duane Allen, Willie Hector, Bob Long, Art Hunter, Tom Wilson, Roy Hord, Joe Scibelli, Marlin McKeever, Joe Carollo, Art Perkins, Duane Putnam, Larry Hayes, Glen Shaw, Karl Finch, Carver Shannon, Mike Henry and coaches Bob Waterfield, Harland Svare, Ray Wietecha, Don Heinrich and Bob Schnelker! The first three-quarters of this 33-minute B & W film highlights the four games* (see below), while the last eight minutes focuses on six of the Rams outstanding players of 1960: rookie DB Charlie Britt, DT John Lovetere, DB Ed Meador, HB Jon Arnett, LB Les Richter and end Jim "Red" Phillips. Shown throughout the film are many other Ram players from the 1960 season: Quarterbacks Frank Ryan and Billy Wade, Halfbacks Dick Bass, Tommy Wilson and Clendon Thomas, fullbacks Joe Marconi and Ollie Matson, ends Del Shofner and rookie Carroll Dale and kicker Danny Villanueva. Other players shown are: Charlie Bradshaw, Roy Hord, Art Hunter, Gene Brito, Lamar Lundy, Bill Jobko, Bob Long, Jack Pardee, and Will Sherman. Watch these and other Rams battling the stars on other NFL teams such as J.C. Caroline, Zeke Bratkowski, Hopalong Cassady, Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Johnny Unitas, Ray Berry and Lenny Moore!
