CHICAGO BEARS
The 1963 World Champion Chicago Bears highlight film, narrated by Jack Brickhouse, covers the big plays and players of every game of the 1963 Chicago Bears season. At the end, all the highlights from the NFL Championship Game played at Wrigley Field, Chicago vs the New York Giants are also shown.
Always known for their defense, the Bears in ’63 employed a new zone pass defense that made them the best in the league that year. As the season wore on, this defense was recognized around the league as the key to their success, as they won games with a modest offense, but gave up an average of only 10 points per game. Doug Atkins, Ed Obradovich, Bill George, Joe Fortunato, Larry Morris, Richie Petitbon and Rosey Taylor were outstanding all year, while the offense, led by QB Billy Wade and Johnny Morris, Willie Galimore, Ronnie Bull and Mike Ditka, was programmed to stick to safe running plays and short passes
This 37-minute film contains mostly overall action plays, with some great ground level shots mixed in. Some outstanding footage before the Packer game at Wrigley Field shows coaches Vince Lombardi and George Halas greeting each other and enjoying a good laugh, plus classic close-ups of players Bill Wade, Mike Ditka and Johnny Morris.
